As an English graduate I think that I'm very good at communicating effectively, both verbal and written, having written many an essay and actively worked on my employment of grammar, vocabulary and semantics in order to ensure a coherent, lucid writing style .
I attained an A* in my English Literature A-Level (age 16-18) and attained full marks (100%) in my final exam before University, which led to me receiving the English Literature prize in 2015 for my year group at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School. I also attained an A* in English Language at GCSE level and an A in it at A-Level, including the mark of 95% in my comprehension and source analysis exam.
I therefore believe that I am well equipped to successfully teach English as a language, albeit it a Middle School, High School or College L\level. My tutoring technique will entail gently challenging my student in order to ensure that they reach their full potential, albeit through tests to identify which parts of English they struggle the most with so that we can focus more upon this, or through secondary reading for them to read and answer questions on so we can discuss it in depth during the tutoring session itself.
However, as a person I am very approachable and laid back so although I would push my student to excel, I would also support, help and guide them as much as possible, as I understand that academia can be mentally exhausting at times and require kindness and empathy as well as discipline and structure.
