About Thad
As an English Literature student, I spent my first four (4) years of college understanding the fundamentals of how the English language functions. We often forget that language is a tool and, like all tools, occasionally needs sharpened or revisited, though we do not always know how to helps ourselves get better - that's where I come in! I have taught academically at-risk college students with a 90% pass-rate (i.e., 90% of those students EARNED a 70% or above); this has helped me as an educator understand the variety of approaches it can require to helps students be as successful as I know they can be.

My love of teaching motivates how I approach lessons. My primary goal is to help students understand why they are learning what they are being taught. I have a strong aversion to "teaching to a test" and have studied the research on why this is a poor pedagogical approach to learning. Instead, I believe in cultivating long-lasting, deep learning that applies to the work we are doing in our lessons, but also demonstrate how it can be applied to your life outside of the classroom.
