About Polly
I loved reading as a child and always valued reading time with my parents at bedtime. Being a bookworm meant that I immensely enjoyed English at school and was the reason I studied English at Durham. I adore sharing my love for English with other people and helping them like the subject too, as I was lucky enough to experience great mentorship at school I feel a great duty to pass this love for literature and curiosity to learn onto other people. My dream in life is to become a professor so that my intrigue in books and cultivating dynamic group discussion can be felt through the community. Ultimately, tutoring is highly valuable to me and underscores the importance of making everyone feel confident in the classroom and even eager to do their English exam!

I am highly knowledgable with the GCSE and A level curriculum having taught students from the ages of 6 - 17. My lessons can be flexible, whether a student wants 1 or 3 hour sessions, and are always uniquely tutored towards the student I am working with.
I typically start sessions running through material that students are struggling with, then helping to mark past exam papers or run through other areas of the curriculum. I make sure that students are encouraged to ask questions and set tasks for them to do for the next session we have.
I have much experience with group tutoring sessions, having mentored art and book club; I am also more than comfortable and experienced with one to one lessons as I currently work with students from the ages of 6 - 16 with their Maths and English.
