About Daniel

I am a qualified primary teacher with 12 years’ experience and currently teach Year 6 alongside my roles as English Lead and KS2 Lead. I have taught across the primary age range and have extensive experience helping children with very different starting points to make strong progress.

I hold an MA in English Literature and have completed both the NPQML and NPQSL leadership qualifications. As English Lead, I design and develop reading and writing curricula, lead staff training and support the assessment and moderation of pupils’ writing.

What I enjoy most about teaching is working out exactly what will help an individual child move forward. Some pupils need gaps carefully identified and addressed; others need greater challenge. I want my tutoring to give children focused, individual teaching that is difficult to provide consistently in a busy classroom.

I aim to build a positive relationship with each pupil so that they feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and becoming increasingly confident and independent in their learning.

About the lesson

I am a qualified primary teacher and English Lead with 12 years’ classroom experience, currently teaching Year 6. My lessons are designed around the individual child rather than following a one-size-fits-all programme.

I begin by identifying a pupil’s strengths and the specific gaps or barriers that are limiting their progress. I then plan focused, engaging teaching that builds knowledge, confidence and independence. Lessons combine clear explanation and modelling with guided practice before pupils apply their learning independently.

I specialise in KS2 English, including reading comprehension, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, vocabulary and SATs preparation. I can support pupils who need to close gaps or build confidence, as well as higher-attaining pupils who need greater challenge.

I have extensive experience supporting pupils with SEND and adapting teaching to different starting points. I also lead English curriculum development, assessment and teacher training within my school and have experience of statutory writing moderation.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes and are suitable for KS2 pupils, particularly Years 5 and 6. Parents will receive clear feedback on progress and the next steps I recommend.
