About Uyen
Hello there!
My name is Uyên, I am 25 years old and I originally am from Germany. I graduated from a German high school with my "Abitur" and have been tutoring classmates, friends and later on other students ever since. I realized early on that I loved the English language and that teaching others felt extremely rewarding to me.
After I had passed my Cambridge FCE (First Certificate in English) at Grade A, I worked as a tutor at a German tuition center and then moved to Vietnam to further pursue my passion of teaching in 2020/21. My classes have been expanding and developing as well as my ability to communicate and adapt to students from different sociocultural backgrounds. As of now, my main focus is English for communication for younger students and Cambridge and Ielts exam preparation for high school students and adults.
It has been an adventurous and valuable journey, with students passing their exams as the biggest reward. I really hope to continue on this path together with my present and future students!

I am currently offering the following classes in-person (Haiphong, VN) and online
- Basic English communication: for elementary students who are just getting to know the English language
- Cambridge English Young Learners (Starters, Movers, Flyers): for middle and high school students who are preparing for Cambridge exams at levels Pre-A1, A1, A2
- Cambridge B1: for high school and adult students who are preparing for Cambridge exams at level B1
- IELTS: exam preparation on request
What I emphasize in my lessons
- Learning by doing: applying what is learned in real-life contexts, such as games, role-plays etc.
- Speaking and listening: many students do not live in an environment in which they have the opportunity to communicate in English; in my classes, everyone has the chance to express themselves in English
- Culture and context: explaining and helping students understand cultural aspects behind the language they are learning; as someone with a more diverse sociocultural background, I realize the importance of this
- Use of official and high-quality study material
- Having a plan and a clear goal, while also adapting to students’ pace and ability

Details
I prefer having my lessons in "public" places such as quiet book stores or libraries in the city center of Rostock. From my point of view, this is a good deal as teacher and student travel there and it is a good study environment that a lot of people use for learning purposes.
