About Brodie
I am an ex-secondary school teacher now working in adult education. I first completed my Bachelor of Arts with a focus on English literature, and my Bachelor of Education to begin teaching people.
I have a love of langauge and the way it can help connect people across time and space. I absolutely adore the fact that we can read books from different eras and still find the words relatable and comforting.
I usually take a constructivist, socractic approach where I pose questions and explore the answers through conversation, rather than simply dictate what the answers are.

Hi Everyone!
My name is Brodie, I'm an experienced English teacher, both in English language (grammar, ESL, etc) as well as literature and creative writing.
I have studied and taught both classic and modern literature, graphic novels, modern writing, and children's literature. My favourite subjects to cover are semiotics and intertextuality (the use of symbols and symbolism, and the referencing of one piece of literature in another).
I am adaptable and happy to create lessons from 30 minutes to 2 hours, and tailored to your level. I have a wide range of literature available to teach, or am happy to help you study your own books, poems, or pieces. If you do not have any pieces, I can link you to many that we can go through together.
