About Jesse
Last year, I graduated from Durham University with a Class I Bachelor's degree in English Literature. Now, I'm studying for a Master's degree in the same subject. Before my transition to university, I gained A*s in English in both my GCSEs and A-Levels. Hence, I have an excellent understanding of the subject and I'm keen to share this with others through tutoring.

My teaching method is to collaborate with students and develop their ability to closely analyse the themes and literary techniques of a given text. English is a field propelled by individual imagination, so collaboration is key - I will draw upon the student's vision and encourage them to develop the confidence to present their own budding ideas with enough authority to score top marks.
In a typical lesson, you can expect us to approach a key passage together from one of the set texts. We will explore the more general themes and context of that passage before closely analysing the literary techniques the writer has employed and what exactly they achieve.
Having experienced a dozen of English exams myself, I can also share my own insights into revision technique and time management. We will have lessons dedicated to exam technique in the lead up to the student's exams to ensure they achieve the very best of their ability.
