About Lucas
I am an English Literature graduate (BA 2:1, Second Class Upper Division) from Bangor University. I have completed my safeguarding certificate (valid until 27th Nov 2025), and have a valid DBS. I am currently undergoing training at Firbobs breakfast and after-school clubs and have experience working with younger children. I have previously taught Politics at A-level and have a year of experience supporting students in both English Literature and Language on a one to one basis.
I am an enthusiastic writer and have published a number of poems. I love all forms of literature and have an in depth knowledge of critical and language theory.

I am an approachable and diplomatic tutor. My approach to tutoring is student-centred. My role is as a facilitator and a coach, and my aim is to encourage active learning and comprehension of the material.
I seek to identify areas of weakness and to fill in any gaps in both knowledge and skill through a range of critical thinking tasks and practical activities.
Most of all, I want to share my deep enthusiasm for my subject with my students and help them discover the joy in studying.

Perfect! Lucas is an excellent, kind and understanding tutor who quickly assessed and grasped my 13 yo daughter's specific requirements (she has ADHD). He is patient and allows my daughter the thinking time she needs before prompting at the right time. He came well prepared and mixed up the lesson with a variety of tasks to keep her stimulated and engaged throughout. Consequently she thoroughly enjoyed her lesson!

Details
Rates are negotiable depending on proximity, whether lessons are done by webcam or in person, etc. Feel free to reach out to me to discuss the matter further if you have any questions. For webcam I can offer lessons at £20 an hour, my usual in person rate however is £25 an hour but depending on proximity and travel costs I am willing to be flexible on this.
