About Alex
I am a recent Boston College graduate, where I double-majored in English and Philosophy, and had a minor concentration in French. While in college, I look an interest in writing tutoring, which led me to take TEFL courses to expand my knowledge on teaching. I have two years of ESL tutoring experience, most of which I gained during the pandemic. I am experienced and comfortable teaching in an online, remote setting, and work hard to be as effective on-screen as in-person. In addition to my ESL tutoring experience, I also taught summer school in 2021, and passed the Praxis II English content exam with a 186.

My lessons are casual and conversational, and will provide you with the necessary skills you need to advance your studies or career. I lead by the student's specific needs, tailoring my lessons to specific skills the student wants to achieve. I see my lessons as useful immersion into English–through casual, everyday conversation, students learn how to use English conversationally, not just formally. I have TEFL training and rely on my experience tutoring throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to create a positive and constructive space. All you have to do is bring yourself! You have everything you need to learn a new language!
I will also provide feedback on essays and papers that are required for your classes, and we can dedicate time to working through the feedback. Think of this as a kind of writing workshop!
