About Maya
Hi! I’m Maya, a 23 year old London native. I’m a bilingual English and Portuguese speaker with a genuine passion for literature, writing, poetry, and helping others grow in confidence.
I want to teach because I love making English feel approachable and enjoyable, and supporting students as they build real fluency and understanding step by step.

My teaching approach is friendly, supportive, and tailored to each student’s goals. I focus on building confidence in speaking, understanding, and analysing English through clear explanations, guided practice, and real conversation.
For English conversation students, lessons are relaxed but structured, helping you improve fluency, pronunciation, and natural expression in everyday situations. For GCSE English students, I support with literature analysis, essay structure, comprehension, and exam technique, always adapting to the areas you find most challenging.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and includes a short warm-up, focused practice, and personalised feedback so you can clearly see your progress each week. I also provide optional exercises to reinforce learning between sessions.
I am bilingual in English and Portuguese and achieved strong results in English Literature and Language. My genuine love of poetry and literature helps me make lessons engaging and accessible rather than overwhelming.
My lessons are suitable for adults and teens, including:
• Adults improving English conversation and confidence
• Portuguese speakers learning English
• GCSE English Language and Literature students
• Primary students needing support with reading and comprehension
All lessons are currently offered online or locally with flexible scheduling.
