About Eric
Hi! I'm Eric Reyes, a current English Literature student at Cornell University, where I study everything from classic novels and poetry to critical theory and contemporary writing. As a tutor, I bring both academic expertise and a genuine enthusiasm for helping others grow as writers. I know how intimidating essay writing can feel, whether you're struggling to find your argument, organize your thoughts, or polish your prose. My goal is to make writing feel less like a mystery and more like a skill you can master—with the right guidance and tools. I’ve worked with students at a range of skill levels and academic stages, and I tailor each session to your specific goals and learning style. You can expect a supportive, professional, and intellectually engaging environment where your ideas are taken seriously and your growth as a writer is the top priority.

As a Cornell University English Literature student, I offer personalized tutoring in English essay writing designed to help students strengthen their critical thinking, analytical writing, and argumentation skills. My approach is rooted in clarity, structure, and creativity—equipping students not just to write essays, but to write well.
My tutoring is collaborative and adaptive. I focus on building a strong foundation in essay structure—thesis development, logical progression of ideas, effective use of evidence, and polished language. I believe writing is a skill that improves with guided practice and thoughtful feedback, so I work closely with students to identify their strengths, target areas for growth, and develop strategies that work for their unique learning style.
I use a mix of direct instruction, live editing, Socratic questioning, and modeling to help students grasp not just what to write, but how and why. Lessons emphasize clarity of thought, close reading, and precise expression—all key to writing compelling essays.
What sets me apart is my academic background and passion for the craft of writing. As an English major at an Ivy League university, I bring deep literary insight, high standards, and a genuine love of language to every lesson. I’ve also worked through the same challenges many students face, and I know how to demystify essay writing in a way that feels approachable and empowering.
I don’t just help students meet expectations—I help them exceed them, and develop confidence in their own voice.
