About Rebecca
A graduate of Williams College in the US, I grew up in Seattle and recently moved full-time to Singapore. I have always believed in the power of literature to foster empathy and understanding, and the power of writing to help young people strengthen their identities. I was inspired to become an educator by the incredible English teachers I had the privilege of learning from, and I strongly believe in the capacity of higher education to help students discover what they want to do with their lives. After teaching and counseling for the past three years at a private school in Seattle, I am delighted to bring my experience as an educator to Singapore.

I provide tutoring for university admissions essays and applications, English literature courses, reading comprehension skills, personal essay writing, and SAT reading & writing prep. I have three years of experience as a classroom English teacher in the US, and four years of experience in the field of college counseling. I have also taught multiple college essay writing courses and am a published writer of creative nonfiction. I am dedicated to helping secondary school students improve their writing and harness the essay form as a way of telling their authentic stories.
I typically tutor in one-hour sessions, but I am open to adjusting meeting times to best fit the needs of the student. I am available online or in person in Singapore.
