About Hazel
I am an English Literature student at Durham University. I aim to offer help to pupils of primary or secondary school age who need extra support in their schoolwork, particularly in the time of school closures due to Coronavirus.
I have experience teaching English as a foreign language to schoolchildren in Vietnam, and at my secondary school I mentored younger students learning French. I am passionate about English, and having achieved an A* at A level in the subject I want to use my knowledge and experience to help younger students in their learning.

I focus my classes around the student's school studies, offering support with schoolwork and/or assignments they might be struggling with. Having left school two years ago, I am very familiar with the type of work set.
I'm a patient, enthusiastic tutor and I take my lead from the student regarding learning objectives and scope, which will be discussed in the first hour. Classes will be structured around supporting the student with their school learning, and I aim to build the student's confidence, skills and engagement with their English learning. This is particularly important for students who may be struggling with fewer teaching hours and the greater need for independent learning, arising from the current school closures: my tutoring will help fill the gap in support that these students might be experiencing.
