About Rivers
I've always wanted to help people and make a difference, but also feed my creative side. This passion led me to study English, where I feel I can engage in my favorite activities; reading and writing, whilst also eventually becoming a secondary educator. I am excited to get my teaching diploma after I graduate. I aspire to lead a safe and inspiring classroom one day, and to never stop learning myself.

I approach tutoring with flexibility and patience. I know what it's like to feel confused and overwhelmed, so I have developed ways to dismantle those barriers. I like to break things down step by step, and find creative ways to explain concepts to others in order to build understanding. I am able to tutor any NCEA level in English. I also study Global Studies in university, which closely overlaps with the Geography and Social Studies disciplines, meaning I can also assist with those subjects if needed. My lessons are an hour long, but I am adaptable to individual needs. I've developed tutoring skills through both secondary and tertiary education, in which I've taken guiding roles in group projects, and enjoyed helping and discussing topics with classmates. I also have three younger siblings whom I tutored during high school, through which I got experience in teaching.
