About Ruby
I have nearly 10 years of tutoring experience, working with non-English speakers aged 6–18 and teaching English in a kindergarten setting. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Cantonese is my first language, and I also speak Tagalog, Bisaya, and Spanish. I have always aspired to be a teacher, as I developed a love for helping individuals achieve their academic goals and gain confidence. I have worked with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and language differences, successfully helping them build confidence in their speech, listening, and speaking skills.

I have just under 10 years of tutoring/mentoring experience now. I usually design and allocate appropriate materials for each tailored lesson. I have tutored GCSE Maths & English and currently work as a teaching assistant in a school that supports pupils with diverse needs, including learning difficulties and speech and language challenges. I tailor my teaching by first assessing each student and creating a personalised plan, offering a free initial session to build a strong tutor-student relationship and support students in achieving their goals. I hold a level 3 NVQ as an early years educator and am currently finishing off my TEFL qualifications.
