Hi! For my lessons, I like to spend 5-10 minutes of the beginning of the lesson getting to know the person, what they need help with, and I like to gather more information about the thing they need help in. Then, the remainder of the lesson goes into helping the student and getting an idea of how much they know about the topic/thing. This helps me decide the level they are at and if they need additional help in this specific thing. Using this approach helps me work with students to personalize their lessons to target the weak areas they need help in.
