About Esther
In year 12 I volunteered at my school to act as a teacher's assistant for a year 7 class. I mentored them in English lessons and worked closely with two students identified as having educational needs. I found this very rewarding and received amazing feedback from the students and the teachers I worked with. In year 13 the English department asked me to tutor GCSE candidates in preparation for their exams. I thoroughly enjoyed this and welcomed the challenge of balancing these lessons with preparing for my own A-level exams. It was during this period that I resolved my ambition to become an English teacher after university. Additionally, while I was in year 13 and tutoring two different GCSE classes, a student requested one on one after school sessions, this student went on to receive an 8 and a 9 in English Language and Literature respectively surpassing her predicated grades.

I implement a practical approach to tutoring. I believe that it is important to understand and not just cram and regurgitate information from textbooks. Therefore my methodology is sometimes abstract and requires engaging the brain beyond the curriculum and mark schemes.
