About Shayana
I am an English major Creative Writing minor at New York University with a 3.9 GPA. I have a deep love for my field of study and the writing process and want to be able to share my passion while helping students find their specialties and strengths in writing. I plan on getting my teaching credentials after undergrad to teach high school English and have experience tutoring at any academic level. I have experience in college paper editing, literary analysis, essay development, ACT tutoring, and even essay-editing in fields I am not specialized in (i.e.: research papers, business papers, etc.), so feel free to bring any range of work in!

I believe in the importance in finding a student's personal voice. Perhaps not everyone loves to write, but I believe everyone can find make the writing process something that allows them to express themselves and feel empowered. In my work as a tutor and essay editor in the past, I have sat with students and shared a dialogue to ensure their essay writing process extends beyond mechanically typing what they think a teacher may want to hear.
I am here to aid students in their grammar, syntax, and organizational skills, while encouraging them to think critically and flush out the concepts they write about. This assistance extends through personal essays for college, literary analysis essays, creative writing, or anything else a student may bring in!
I also offer tutoring in standardized test taking (ACT, SAT, etc.) for grammar and critical reading sections.
