About Kate
I'm Kate Tinker, BA with a first-class degree in History from the University of Leeds. At the age of twenty-two, I already have several years of experience in the education sector. As part of my undergraduate degree, I worked as a teaching assistant at an international school in Madrid, Kings College. This role required working with students of various nationalities with educational needs, helping them to advance their phonetic and grammatical level. In addition to this, I have been a tutor preparing British students of various levels for the National Secondary Exams (SATs). My official certification is Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). I am Kate Tinker, a first-class graduate in History from the University of Leeds. At twenty-two, I have several years of experience in the education sector. As part of my degree, I worked as a teaching assistant in an international school in Madrid, Kings College. This role required working with students from diverse backgrounds with special needs, helping them improve their phonetics and grammar. My teaching method is based on three phases. First, I try to understand the needs and motivations of the student in order to design a tailor-made English program. My classes are based on conversation, so the second phase of my methodology involves incorporating phonetics and grammar orally, so that the student can speak and listen in English quickly and naturally. In the later stages of learning, I try to create simulations, situations in which the student can use their English in a pragmatic and practical way, for example, introducing vocabulary to order food, write emails or introduce themselves. My teaching methodology takes place in three phases. Firstly, I aim to understand the needs and motivations of students in order to create a tailored English program. My classes are based on conversation, therefore the second phase of my methodology involves incorporating phonetics and grammar in an oral format. This is done so that the student can both listen and talk in English quickly and naturally. In the most advanced phase of learning, I aim to create simulations; mock scenarios where students can use their English with pragmatic and practical ability. For instance, introducing vocabulary to order food, write emails and to introduce oneself.
