About Alycen
I have five years teaching primary and secondary English in both Australia and the United Kingdom. During that time I have taught students in the subjects of English (Primary / Years 7 - 11), SOSE / Geography / History / Sociology / Humanities (Primary / Years 8; 12), Media Studies (Year 10), and Research Project (Years 11 - 12).
In addition to this I have 2.5 years tutoring experience with both primary, secondary, and tertiary students. Specific subject areas I've assisted in include English, History, and Psychology. When required I've also supported students in their studies of Religious Education, Physical Education, Sociology, Philosophy and Film Studies. This support was provided both face to face as well as online (via email and Skype/Zoom screen share).

My name is Alycen Edwards and I am seeking to support the literacy education and development of school aged students through tutoring. I feel that I can provide an enriching and resolutely supportive atmosphere that will aid students’ established literacy knowledge and comprehension.
As stipulated by my 5 year teaching career, I feel that I can deliver a teaching program that is strong in its content and intellectually affirming. As a teacher of English and SOSE (two literacy-heavy subjects), I understand the importance of time-management, hard work, and critical reflection upon performance practices for the best outcome for students’ learning. I am knowledgeable and competent in the use of ICT; and believe it provides an immense benefit to students’ learning.
I believe in a holistic education: learning through practical, emotional, and mental means as well as the theoretical. I would be glad to contribute to the students’ educational development through the assisted realm of tutoring.
