About Rochana
My immense love for reading from a very young age, propelled me into a career of English literature and linguistics. With an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and a Master's in World Literatures in English from the University of Oxford, I have gained a robust foundation in literary analysis and cultural studies alongside linguistics and critical discourse analysis. My academic background is notably versatile. While my primary focus has been English literature, I have also explored diverse subjects such as Comparative Religion, Greek and Roman Studies, music, Drama & Theatre, and language studies in French, Sanskrit, and Latin, among others. My commitment to exploring various educational paths has shaped my approach to disseminating knowledge, making it a dynamic and engaging process. My teaching philosophy centres on creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that empowers students to achieve their full potential. I believe in utilizing innovative teaching methods, incorporating technology, and providing personalized support to address the unique needs of students.

My teaching philosophy centers on fostering critical thinking skills and expanding and deepening students' perspectives. Depending on the student's needs, level, and interests, lesson durations may range from 1 to 2 hours. In the case of a two-hour session, a 10-minute break will be incorporated. I have extensive experience teaching students at the primary and secondary levels, as well as university undergraduates. On this platform, I aim to instruct students aged 12 to 18, as well as undergraduates and other adult learners.
