About Heidi
I am a third year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto and have substantial experience in reading and writing essays. I have previously tutored high school-level English. It is important for me to get to know individual students, and I have used this approach in teaching violin, music theory, and English in the past. I believe frequent communication, check-ins, and a good rapport are key in tailoring each lesson according to individual students' needs.

I aim to ensure that there is a foundational understanding of grammar and sentence structure, and beyond this, I curate each lesson according to the student's needs. I am receptive to students' ideas, learning styles, and feedback. I am flexible, and can work with students through any writing assignment, including project-type work, essays, short stories, and more. I prefer to work with students through assignment instructions, and once they have a solid understanding of the task, give them space to show their understanding and learning independently. Ideally, we will reconvene at a mid-point and a final point, so I can review their work, give feedback, and ensure they are on the right track!

Details
Life happens, and so does the need to cancel! I am quite flexible, however as I need to schedule time for my own studies and other job, I ask that notice of cancellation be given by noon, the day of the lesson. If notification occurs later in the day, I will have to charge for the lesson regardless (since I will have reserved my time in order to teach). Thank you for understanding!
