About Marielena
I'm a published PhD candidate with a master's and 6 years of experience teaching students how to write and edit for a variety of subjects to different audiences. I have published several peer-reviewed articles, successfully funded my research through grant proposals, presented my work at conferences, and supported dozens of peers in editing and writing their own articles and dissertations. In my decade of pursuing education, I've come to know the basics of writing through and through, and I currently teach undergraduate courses in professional writing. I've helped students write essays for magazines, applications, and course exams, and I also have experience helping students write for poster boards and oral presentations. I've tutored students from middle school to graduate school, and can meet you where you are. Writing can be hard, but if you bring me your assignment, I'll provide you the support!

My approach is collaborative, positive, and growth-oriented. We'll start by getting an idea of where you are in your writing journey, your areas of strength, your areas for growth, and your short- and long-term goals.
Each lesson will begin by answering any questions you bring, followed by reviewing your work. I'll then provide you with feedback and editing support. Finally, I'll give you tangible and attainable next steps to work on together and independently, along with helpful resources.
I have experience working with students from middle school through graduate school, and I've worked with youth and adults navigating disabilities that can impact writing. I can meet you where you are and be a support along your journey!
