About Caroline
The mother of three daughters and a native English speaker from the south of England, I trained as an English teacher and have taught English in schools in the UK; ESL in Nigeria; EFL in English summer school and, as a freelance book editor, I have worked for a number of publishers and helped to produce many English courses for the UK, Europe, Africa and the Caribbean, and the Middle East. I currently tutor pupils on a one-to-one basis at my home in the Scottish Highlands, as well as teaching students online.

I am happy to teach students of all ages and abilities and prefer to work on a one-to-one basis. My teaching is pupil-centered. In the first few lessons, I enjoy building a rapport with my students, finding out about their interests and what makes them tick as well as any difficulties they are experiencing in learning English. I then use this information to tailor my lessons appropriately for the individual - lessons then become more focused on areas requiring specific attention as they arise. I encourage pupils to recognize, learn from and correct their own mistakes as this builds self-esteem and confidence in their own language abilities.

Details
I prefer to teach in my own home or online. However, I am happy to travel to teach on the understanding that there would be an additional charge to cover my costs, agreed prior to commencement of lessons.
