I've been taking banjo lessons with Jacob for over two years and I highly recommend him as a tutor. I started out as a self-taught beginner and Jacob has really developed my technique and increased my understanding of music theory and general musical concepts. He has a friendly, relaxed and patient teaching style and is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced with regards to all things musical as well as being an excellent musician!

Learning guitar with Jacob has been a game-changer…..and I say that as someone who isn’t musical, can’t sing, and dances like a broken washing machine. He’s that rare combo of trustworthy, professional, and totally relaxed, which makes every lesson feel like jamming with a mate who actually knows what he's doing. He’s always up to date, super patient, and somehow tailors’ lessons to my (sometime questionable) taste in music. Best of all, he teaches the why, not just the how, so you learn real theory….not just a bunch of random chord shapes. I thoroughly recommend him...!!!

I am completely new to music but have a passion to learn banjo. I found Jacob through Google, I messaged him to enquire about his lessons and also to say how green I would be, he replied in a fashion that put me completely at ease with my self and the task I am now currently learning with the help of Jacob. Jacob is a professional for sure, his knowledge of instruments and music library outstands me every lesson, he is very patient with me and makes me feel like I can learn this instrument.
He is friendly, passionate about his work and supportive and manages to do all this whilst having a young new family.
Their family cat normally lets me know how I’m doing in my lesson by staying in the room or asking to leave.
I can’t recommend him enough, he is also very understanding and patient with me when I can’t make an arranged lesson due to either family or being self employed and is always happy to rearrange, thank you for putting up with me this far.
Oh, and I’m also left handed just to give him a bit more of a challenge,

I have been getting clawhammer banjo lessons every week from Jacob. I think he is a great tutor and really breaks things down in to manageable chunks, which makes it easy to learn. I'm 42 and have always wanted to play an instrument, I think i was scared I wouldn't be able to do it. Jacob has proved that wrong and my banjo playing is coming on leaps and bounds. He is a great tutor and I would recommend him highly.
