About Kelly

With a background in Early Childhood Education, I have experience working with students of all ages and academic needs. Having taught in a classroom environment for several years before switching to tutoring, I found that many students are lacking a strong understanding of phonetic and grammatical concepts that are needed in order to progress to the next level. Scaffolding is extremely important when it comes to retaining information, and having confidence in material previously learned will make understanding new information that much easier. I aim to help build this confidence in my students, as well as encourage excitement around reading and writing!

About the lesson

My goal as a tutor is to make my lessons as fun as possible with the mentality that kids will learn more if they are enjoying themselves while doing it. Each class is tailored to the student's likes and needs, where I use a combination of worksheets, games, art projects, reading passages, and videos to help him or her fully understand the material at hand. I also travel the world frequently and incorporate cultural material and discussions into lessons in order to create a larger world view for my students. This includes setting up pen pal opportunities with other international students of mine. The majority of my classes are done online, but also happy to have classes in person when available!
