About Alex
English Tutor
I am personable, enthusiastic and hard working – with a particular passion for teaching and English.
I have taught English, as structured in the UK national curriculum, to children in London, as a freelance private tutor. I have also taught English to children with a range of abilities in France. My students were always inspired and motivated and benefited from the personalised lesson structure.
I graduated in BA English from Exeter University last year.
I have a passion for local creative arts and 20th century American literature.
I have worked as a private tutor in White City, London, teaching KS2 and KS3 English to children in primary and secondary schools. My lessons were engaging, diverse and personalised and assisted my students in achieving their desired grades.
Last year, I taught English to children in the refugee camp in Calais, France. I invented exercises and adapted quickly to the different languages that were spoken.

Tuition History
Whilst living in London, before my degree, I offered a private tuition service that emphasised diligence, an active engagement, creativity and discussions. Using textbooks that I provided and homework that I set, we discussed verbal and non-verbal reasoning, grammar, punctuation, story writing, poetry and sentence structure, among other topics. The lessons were immersive and dynamic and they were adapted to the specific needs and goals of each student.
In Calais, I taught the very fundamentals of English (the alphabet, nouns, verbs) to children and adults from the Middle East, North Africa and Asia. Using my own techniques, textbooks, lesson plans, I engaged and entertained classes of ten. I had to quickly and regularly adapt my lessons to suit the range of abilities in the temporary school. I developed strong bonds with my students and many arrived in England with an essential grasp of the language.
