About Stephanie
I am an Arts and Biology student at the Open University with a passion for teaching. I have over 4 years experience teaching children from ages 6-16 and I also have experience teaching children with special needs.
My passion for teaching stems from my first ever job which entailed teaching children Science and English based subjects. I found this experience very rewarding and many of those children went on to study Science and English further and passed their exams with flying colours. I have also ran my own science-club for children over the past years and have been a personal English GCSE tutor to 20 repeat students for the past year. My teaching has helped students go from working at a grade 2 to a grade 7 in only a couple of months.

I am specialised in teaching AQA, OCR and Edexcel GCSE English language and Literature. My lessons are aimed at GCSE students (Aged 14-16), however, I do have experience teaching younger GCSE students.
If I had to describe my teaching style in 3 words they would be: unique, effective and adventurous. I have always been somewhat against the way students are taught in schools in the UK as I believe that every student has their own individual needs and their own style of learning which I feel is not attended to correctly in schools and classrooms. My teaching style involves firstly learning about my student through an initial trial lesson to establish their strengths and weaknesses so that future lessons can be tailored for them. I also like to trial a range of teaching styles with my student to establish what suits them best. As well as this, something I like to do and have done over my years of teaching is to get to know what my student is interested in and finds enjoyable in this world. This is because I love to incorporate their interests in the lessons and base exam questions and revision on their interests, so that they are more engaged and interested. Therefore the student will strengthen their skills in the meantime and thrive from this technique. This is a technique that I have used with every student I have ever taught and is proved to be very effective.
Furthermore, I also love to teach students how to revise effectively in a way that suits them and their needs. I have found that unorthodox ways of revising that I have practiced myself and have taught over the years like writing songs and creating games to help students remember exam content is very effective.
Due to also being an individual who had not long completed her GCSE's and A-levels, I have first hand-experience into what to expect, the do's and don'ts and any tips and tricks that may help you revise and pass your exams.
