About Desiree
I'm an entrepreneurial artist, born in Durban, raised in the Free State and have lived in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Jerusalem, London, Milano, Roma, Seattle. During 2003 - 2005 I had exhibitions in Seattle and New York City. I've spent most of my adult life living abroad, and returned to South Africa in 2006.
In Milano and Roma, I taught English, learned how to restore antiques and explored the cities' storied past. Between 2006 - 2009 I researched and wrote a book on the history and geography of the region now known as Matjhabeng. The book was approved by the Free State Department of Education as a recommended library resource for the schools of the Free State province. A copy of the book is in the research library of the Royal Philatelic Society in London.

Most decidedly my lessons are designed and tailored to the specific requirements of the learner. The objective is to keep the learner motivated and inspired, therefore the subject matter or context of the learning has to be of individual interest to the learner to maximise learning with every lesson. Further I advise on various approaches to assist in maximising learning time. These include such approaches as REAP (Read, Encode, Annotate, Ponder), Rehearsal and Rote learning, PQRST (Preview. Question, Read, Summary, Test) which develop study skills.
