About Austin
Years of experience with ESL students of varying proficiency, ranging from phonics to TOEFL prep, and high school-level debate and literature analysis guarantee my ability to plan and execute powerful lesson plans in accordance with a student's proficiency.
I have 2 bachelor's degrees, am working on my master's degree, and plan to become a professor in the future. My vast life experience traveling and working abroad (over 10 countries) has given me an edge in conversing/connecting with a wide variety of people with varying degrees of English proficiency.
I love meeting people from different walks of life, and I see my students as people with worthwhile interests and backgrounds.

My teaching style primarily focuses on a speaking/writing-heavy, project-based learning style that encourages the exploration of my student's topic of interest. I utilize simple, bold slides to facilitate the flow of conversation between me and my students while also reducing distractions.
Typical (non-TOEFL) lesson plan:
I open with ageless icebreakers or activities before delving into topical materials with scripted exercises for phrases and vocab. Students will get the chance to use these materials to produce writing based on one of many topical prompts before giving a virtual speech. Feedback will be given, leading to a final section of casual conversation (usually also topical) with me. I would end the class by asking if there is a special request for the next topic, otherwise, I will choose from a list of my own prepared essential topics.
I can and have taught a variety of age groups ranging from phonics to TOEFL prep, and high school-level debate and literature analysis.
