About Charlie
Currently living in my hometown, Atlanta, GA - a city whose multicultural vibrancy I witnessed grow throughout my childhood and young adult life. I was fortunate to be raised by two creatively-minded parents who sought to enrich my education with constant trips to theater productions, museum exhibits, and poetry readings. After earning a BA in Comparative Literature from UGA in 2009, I was part of a music collective that travelled across the US and Canada to perform while also hosting performers from across the world at our own show space in Athens, GA. Shortly thereafter, I lived in Guadalajara, Mexico where I helped develop a micro-coffee roasting business - this was my first major immersive experience with Spanish: learning both how to express myself and strengthening my understanding of Mexican culture. I returned to Athens as Chef de Partie at The National from 2018-2021, with a brief but remarkable sojourn through France, Spain, Tunisia, and CDMX in 2019 - in CDMX, I was tutor to a group of tech executives as well as to a lawyer; in Spain, I did a work-stay exchange on two small regenerative agriculture/biodynamic farms. In 2022, I returned to Atlanta and began my MS in Global Media and Cultures, the highlight of which was my capstone documentary project "Hay que Guardar la Semilla: CAMJI Bartolo and Mutual Aid in the Mountains of Puerto Rico". In 2023, I edited the Spanish-language podcast series AMATL, a production of the Environmental Humanities Lab at Georgia Tech. I love language, cross-cultural exchange, and self-expression.

My lessons are tailored to the student's own particular needs, goals, and level of proficiency. I am well-equipped to instruct academically, concentrating on the mechanics of the language, as well as holistically, engaging in conversational studies, Sociolinguistics, cross-cultural awareness, and Literature. Multilingualism helps strengthen cross-cultural exchange and understanding; my goal is for all of my students to feel confident expressing themselves in English in any social or professional setting.
