About Julia
I am a freelance English teacher; I teach IELTS and academic writing. I have worked for many different language schools. I trained some time ago, even before computerisation. The text books have not changed that much, but learning takes place with smartboards and apple laptops. This means that learning is very visual and carries a lot of information. People are far more literate now in one or two languages and highly creative in a verbal sense.

I teach in the communicative way: discovering, evaluating, creating. People learn by having full access to the meaning and use of a word. This means talking to friends, and in the work place, or finding people via computer to practise with. Memory in language learning is not just learning things in a parrot fashion way, it is reassembling, and producing or creating understanding in a unique way to you, that you know you can share with someone else.
