About Stephen
As an American young adult, I served as a religious volunteer (full-time missionary) where I was assigned to serve in Finland. My two year experience communicating in and learning Finnish daily has led me to an advanced understand of the Finnish at a relatively young age of study. I enjoyed teaching small groups of 1-4 people Finnish language on a weekly basis throughout my mission, and desire to continue assisting and creating friendships with others.

Having gone through the process of studying Finnish grammar in-depth, I identify where others are in that same process, and reduce the headache of learning complex foreign linguistic concepts. This approach of prioritizing understanding over memorization/assimilation results in language proficiency in a much shorter amount of time. I place more of an emphasis on the "why" and "how" of the language, as opposed to the "what" - something native language speakers may struggle to do when teaching their mother tongue. My primary resource in teaching and learning Finnish is the book "Finnish an Essential Grammar" by Fred Karlsson.
