About George
I am an academic retraining to be a psychotherapist. In addition to a doctorate from the University of Cambridge, I hold a postdoctoral degree (Habilitation) from the University of Bamberg in Germany. During an academic career at the highest international level, I held prestigious research fellowships and wrote two monographs.
In addition to teaching modules at other universities, I acted as a supervisor for around a dozen Cambridge colleges between 2008 and 2019, sat on the Board of Examiners in the Faculty of English, and conducted entrance interviews (general and subject-specific). In Sept 2020 I will complete an MSc in Psychology.
Having started out as an English tutor in Germany back before I began university, I've now taught hundreds of students at various levels. I enjoy teaching and have lots to pass on.

My teaching method is flexible: I do my best to respond to clients' specific needs and aims. These can be discussed and agreed in the first meeting. Methodologies can include: discussions of specific texts; real-time collaboration on practice essays; revision planning; conversation about a specific topic or theme; research methodology.
