  • 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

It started when I was a kid and saw someone in our church play hymns. I instantly fell in love with the piano.
  • 2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I enjoy a variety of music, but I mostly listen to pop-especially when I'm driving.
  • 3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

For me, it would be teaching students how to truly enjoy every moment of their practice. It's difficult because it requires a mindset shift-but through mistakes, they learn and grow.
  • 4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I think the violin is the most complicated instrument to master. You need to have proper posture, and if it's not done correctly, the sound you produce can be quite unpleasant.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

For me, the keys to success are taking action toward your dreams and believing in continuous learning. Growth never stops-and that's how we move forward.
  • 6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

If I could meet any three musicians in my favorite bar in the early hours of the morning, I'd choose Amy Winehouse, Kendrick Lamar, and Freddie Mercury. Each of them has a unique energy and perspective that would make for an unforgettable conversation.

Amy Winehouse - Her voice had so much soul, and her lyrics were painfully honest. I'd love to ask her about the stories behind her songs and how fame affected her creativity. In the quiet of a dimly lit bar, I think she'd open up in a way that's raw and real.

Kendrick Lamar - Kendrick is a genius when it comes to storytelling. His lyrics feel like poetry mixed with social commentary. I'd be curious to know how he balances his message with his music, and what keeps him grounded in an industry that's constantly changing.

Freddie Mercury - He was larger than life on stage but seemed like such a thoughtful, deep person offstage. I'd ask him what inspired his boldness and confidence-and maybe even get him to sing a few lines if the mood was right.

Sitting with these three at a nearly empty bar, with music playing softly in the background, I imagine it would feel like time stopped-a rare mix of brilliance, vulnerability, and artistry in one place.
  • 7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

Back in my second year at music school, I had a piano professor who rarely gave compliments. He believed music should come from a place of honesty, not perfection. One day, I performed Clair de Lune by Debussy, and honestly, I was focused more on hitting the right notes than expressing emotion.

When I finished, the room was silent. He walked over and said, "You played the notes, but not the story." That stung a bit-but it stuck with me.

A week later, I came back and played it again. This time, I imagined I was playing for someone I missed deeply. I let my guard down. The tempo wasn't perfect, and I even hit a wrong note. But when I finished, he looked at me and said, "Now that… was music."

That moment changed how I approach everything-not just music. It taught me that vulnerability and expression are far more powerful than technical perfection. And to this day, every time I sit at a piano, I try to play like that second time.
  • 8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I take the time to understand each student's musical goals, personality, and learning style. Whether someone wants to play pop songs or master classical theory, I tailor my lessons to fit their passion.

Being a great music teacher isn't just about knowing music-it's about inspiring someone else to love it and believe in their ability to make it. That's what makes me a Superprof.
