About Lynley
Psychology has been a passion of mine for many years, both as an academic discipline and through its real-world applications. I hold a degree in Psychology alongside a PGCE in Secondary Education, and I am currently the Head of Psychology at a Grammar school in Kent. Prior to my teaching career, I gained extensive experience working directly with children and young people specialising in complex mental health areas, including schizophrenia, trauma recovery, and child exploitation. This therapeutic background has provided me with a deep understanding of mental health and human behaviour, which I integrate into my teaching to create an empathetic, supportive, and student-centred learning environment. I am deeply committed to helping students build both their knowledge and confidence in Psychology. Whether you are aiming for an A* or seeking clarity on complex concepts, I strive to make the subject engaging, accessible, and relevant, empowering learners to succeed and develop a lasting interest.

Experience - BSc (Hons) in Psychology. PGCE in Secondary Education. Head of Psychology at a grammar school in Kent. I tutor students of all abilities – from those aiming for an A* to those who need structured support to build understanding and confidence. I take a student-centred, supportive approach to tutoring combining clear, structured explanations with active recall, exam practice, and real-life application of psychological theory. I tailor each session to the learner's pace and needs, using a mix of discussion, visual resources, model answers, and memory techniques. My background in therapeutic mental health work also means I take a calm, empathetic approach to building student confidence and resilience. Sessions typically last 60 minutes, but I can offer shorter sessions depending on the student's needs — especially during exam periods or for focused topic reviews.
