About Laurel
I studied Arabic at the University of Chicago, SOAS and Bard College. I lived in the Middle East for five years and traveled widely. In addition to teaching, I do writing and editing work. My approach is non-judgmental and supportive. I enjoy meeting new students and sharing my love for Arabic with them!

I have been teaching Arabic at the Newberry Library for eight years. Before that, I taught in the business school of the University of Chicago for two years. I also teach students privately. I have a step-by-step methodology to give students a good foundation in Arabic!
