About Jill

Hello, I am Dr. Jill Bartholomew, EdD. I have a passion for education and have been running my tutoring company, Mad Wizard Tutoring, since 2020. I am certified to tutor all K-12 core subjects, but I do specialize in reading and writing interventions. I have worked with a diverse range of students of all ages, from early elementary to doctoral levels. I believe in a growth mindset philosophy in education, and just because you feel like you can't learn something, it doesn't mean you won't be able to master that subject with my professional assistance. I also work with adult learners, whether they are trying to pass a test like the GED or are enrolled in college. I want to help my students believe in themselves and their abilities. Together, we can achieve so much more. I also offer French language, advanced writing and editing, and test prep services. Welcome to Mad Wizard Tutoring! See you soon.

About the lesson

Math can be an especially intimidating subject, but I believe in growth mindset learning principles. Just because it's hard doesn't mean you can't learn how to master mathematical principles yet. I am familiar with the current mathematics curriculum taught in most public and charter school systems. I like to work with the homework assigned by the teacher to the student, although I will use intervention techniques if we need to back up to address any learning gaps. I rely on a combination of old school techniques like memorizing times tables and incorporating new games and other methods to help my students master their math. I usually work with K-12 students, although I have a doctoral degree in education and am familiar with quantitative methods used in research. Remember Dr. Jill Bartholomew, the Mad Wizard tutor.
