As a tutor, I focus on creating a supportive and interactive learning environment where students feel confident expressing their ideas and improving their writing skills. My teaching method centers on identifying each student’s strengths and challenges, then tailoring lessons to their individual learning style. I use clear examples, guided practice, and constructive feedback to help students develop both technical skills—such as grammar, structure, and clarity—and higher-level thinking, like argument development and literary analysis.
A typical lesson begins with a brief discussion to identify the student’s goals for the session, followed by targeted exercises or reviewing a current assignment. I emphasize understanding why certain writing choices work, rather than simply memorizing rules. We finish with a recap of progress and a short plan for continued improvement.
What sets me apart is my experience as a college student who has earned multiple A’s in English courses, giving me a firsthand understanding of what professors expect. I approach tutoring with patience and encouragement, helping students not just complete assignments but gain lasting confidence in their writing and critical thinking.
