About Christl
Hi there! I’m Christl, and I’m passionate about storytelling and helping others find their voice through writing. I hold an MFA in Fiction from West Virginia University, which I earned in 2021, and I have a BFA with a concentration in writing from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, completed in 2012.
I’ve had the joy of teaching at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV, Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA, and Tiajin University of Economics and Finance (in partnership with WVU). Alongside teaching, I spent three years working as an undergraduate and graduate writing tutor, guiding students through the nuances of effective communication.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a diverse range of students, from high school seniors to adult learners. I’ve taught courses such as Introduction to Business Communication, Introduction to Creative Writing, Introduction to Fiction, Composition and Rhetoric, and Composition, Rhetoric, and Research.
Currently, I’m based in Pittsburgh, PA, where I share my home with my senior cat, a few Venus fly traps, and a collection of books. My hobbies include fiber arts, cinema, and reading.

With six years of teaching and private tutoring experience, I specialize in helping high school-aged students through adult learners achieve their academic and personal objectives.

My teaching method is straightforward, kind, and encouraging. We will celebrate your strengths and focus on areas for improvement, meeting your personal needs and assignment requirements.
Typical Lesson Plan:
Each lesson begins with a review of your goals and current progress. We'll dive into targeted exercises designed to address your focus, whether it's mastering grammar, developing a compelling narrative, or refining communication skills. Our sessions will include interactive discussions, hands-on writing activities, and constructive feedback to ensure you leave with both the knowledge you need and skills you can apply broadly.
As a tutor, I am committed to understanding your individual learning style. I tailor each lesson to ensure it is relevant and impactful for you. My background as a college English instructor gives me a deep understanding of academic expectations and the tools to help you meet them.
