About Tess
I hold an MSc in Computer Science and have spent over nine years teaching students from secondary school to professional levels. My teaching philosophy blends structure and flexibility — guiding learners to explore technology as both a science and an art. I’ve worked with diverse learners, from beginners taking their first step into programming to advanced students pursuing specialized computing careers.
My approach emphasizes reasoning, clarity, and practical engagement. I believe that understanding “why” a line of code works is more important than simply memorizing syntax. Each lesson combines logical explanations, real-world examples, and continuous hands-on coding that reinforces understanding at every step.
Beyond programming, I focus on developing computational thinking — the mental framework that allows students to break problems into manageable parts, identify patterns, and design logical solutions. My Computer Science lessons are designed to help students think like developers and problem-solvers, not just code writers. Each session focuses on logical structure, algorithmic reasoning, and how computational thinking applies beyond programming — into everyday problem-solving and analytical decision-making. I guide students to see coding as creativity with precision, blending logic with imagination.
We begin with fundamentals — data types, loops, and conditionals — and progressively move toward data structures, algorithms, and software design. Through visual mapping, hands-on coding, and debugging sessions, learners develop the ability to think systematically and build efficient programs with clarity and confidence.
Real-world applications are at the heart of my lessons. Whether students are learning Python, C++, or web development, I connect concepts to fields like AI, automation, and cybersecurity. I use projects such as building small apps, game design, or data analysis programs to make abstract logic tangible and exciting.
