Hi, I’m Jason, or JD for short. I am a passionate educator, advisor, and lifelong learner dedicated to helping students unlock their full potential. With over a decade of experience in education and student services, I bring both classroom teaching expertise and personalized academic coaching to every session. My background includes years as an elementary and middle school teacher and as a college admissions advisor, where I supported students in navigating their academic journeys with clarity and confidence. I hold a Bachelor of Education in English Education and am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching with a specialization in Special Education. This academic foundation, combined with real-world experience in teaching and advising, allows me to tailor lessons to each student’s unique learning style, needs, and goals. As a tutor, my approach centers around helping students deeply understand concepts rather than relying on memorization. I use a variety of techniques to make learning effective and enjoyable, including effective questioning to guide students toward answers.
A typical lesson lasts between 45 to 60 minutes and follows a structured flow. We begin with a quick warm-up to review previous material or tackle a relevant brain teaser. Then, I introduce the new topic in a clear, structured way using visuals and interactive discussion. The heart of the session is focused on guided practice, where we solve problems together, gradually increasing the level of difficulty to reinforce understanding.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to adapt to each student’s learning style. Whether someone is a visual learner, prefers hands-on practice, or thrives on storytelling, I adjust my approach to suit their needs. I strive to create a supportive, judgment-free space where students feel comfortable making mistakes and growing from them. My passion for science is contagious, and I aim to make even intimidating topics feel approachable.
