About Michael
Having learned English within an English Grammar school, I was fortunate to take my understanding and application of the language into my professional career.
As a Human Resources Director with a global remit for recruitment, training and development, employee relations and communications for more than 40,000 employees worldwide, the importance and power of the written and spoken word was a prerequisite to successful engagement with people of different backgrounds, beliefs, faith and cultures.
My present portfolio of work includes directorships of schools and education in the United Kingdom and I have regular interactions with teachers and pupils at schools for which I am Chair and/or lead Director.
I have also recently held the position of Editor of the oldest independent newspaper in Scotland. Produced every two weeks the newspaper covered a variety of topics of interest to the diverse population found on a Scottish island. From bird watching to archeology, from cycling to whisky distilling, from music festivals to recycling - no subject lacked interest, if written correctly and in an engaging manner.
