About Emma
I have a passion for working with young people, and the older I get, the more I feel I have both to share and to learn from them. I care deeply about helping others feel confident in their own strengths and creativity, and I believe in meeting every student with encouragement, curiosity, and respect. I am a lifelong reader and writer with a deep love for stories and imagined worlds. Some of my favorite authors are Gabriel García Márquez, Louise Erdrich, and Toni Morrison—writers who explore family, generational patterns, human emotion, and complexity with incredible beauty. Outside of tutoring, I practice and perform aerial dance, write creatively, illustrate, and dance salsa.

I have 4+ years of experience as a tutor specializing in college essay coaching, academic writing, and reading literacy and analysis. Whether you're working on a personal statement, an English class assignment, or a comparative literature essay, I can help you express your ideas clearly and confidently.
I have worked with students from elementary school through college, and I love helping young people grow as writers and readers. I’m especially skilled at guiding students through close reading of texts, brainstorming, outlining, finding a strong written voice, and thorough revision.
My greatest strength as a tutor is my genuine interest in each student, and the calm, patient, and positive energy I bring to every session. My approach is supportive, effective, and focused on helping students feel confident in their ability to form their own understandings of complex texts and to create written work that expresses their ideas and opinions.
