About Sarah
I have specific experience in working with reluctant readers, students with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, and with students preparing for examinations. I facilitate online lessons with the integrated use of scanned materials and screenshots to enable effective use of time. I provide a comfortable space for students to learn and feel empowered to achieve their potential, and I am open and non-judgemental while allowing room to develop and setting small and achievable goals so that the student can see just how much progress they can make with targeted intervention.

I am a teacher and former SENCo with 15 years' experience in Secondary schools teaching English and special needs, as well as having been a GCSE examiner for English and English Literature. I have a PGCE in English and I am currently undertaking a PhD in English Literature at the University of Sheffield. My lessons are personalised for each student, whether they are of primary or secondary age, and the materials are tailored to suit the needs of the learner. Honest written feedback is provided every lesson so that the student can look back on their progress over time and also act on advice in their own time. Students may bring work that they need guidance on or use the tutorial sessions as stand-alone revision sessions as needed.
