About Maxine
I have teaching experience with multi-lingual groups of students at the beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. I use an integrated approach with an emphasis on teaching language structure and functions through reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. I also work with native speakers on writing skills and advanced reading comprehension and most recently have been working one on one with middle school students in California's private schools.

My teaching style is interactive and learner centered. I want to know what my students goals are and help them achieve them. My own goal is to motivate and encourage all my students to work towards their highest possible proficiency and to enjoy their learning.
I work with both native speakers and English Language Learners on Speaking, Writing, Reading Comprehension, Grammar and Pronunciation. I love getting to know my students, including their interests, hopes, talents and plans for the future.
My work with young children is play-based, so kids have fun while they practice and learn. Children need to be motivated and engaged to learn. I strive to make a personal connection with my students and value the effort they put into their studies.
