About Violet
I am a passionate and dedicated enthusiast of English Literature and Fine Arts, with a strong belief that learning should be both engaging and inspiring. My approach to teaching is rooted in creativity, combining my academic background with my professional experience as a tutor and now a training teacher assistant in primary education, to make lessons enjoyable, accessible, and meaningful for each student. Having worked with children of different ages and learning needs, including those requiring SEND support, I understand the importance of patience, encouragement, and tailoring lessons to individual strengths. I inspire confidence in my students by breaking tasks into clear, manageable steps and celebrating progress at every stage. This ensures that students not only improve their academic skills but also build lasting self-belief in their abilities. With a degree, childcare qualifications, and practical tutoring experience, I bring academic expertise and a caring, professional attitude to my lessons. I believe every child learns best when lessons are engaging, supportive, and tailored to their individual needs. I use a patient and creative approach, drawing on my Fine Art background to bring imagination and variety into English lessons. This often means combining traditional skills like spelling, grammar, and essay writing with more interactive and visual activities that help ideas come alive. I have skills in tutoring creative writing, poetry, analysis and classic literature. I break lessons into manageable chunks with clear goals to keep students focused. I use visual aids, interactive tasks, and creative exercises to make learning memorable. For exam students, I focus on exam technique (e.g., PEEL/PETAL paragraphs, analysing quotations, planning essays). I adapt lessons for SEND learners, using structure, repetition, and encouragement to build confidence. I am able to tutor children who are doing their SATs, and also secondary and GCSE level. Additionally if you are someone who has a passion for literature and would like tuition to enhance your knowledge on the subject I am enthusiastic to help. I have a Fine Art degree with a strong passion for literature, taking extracurricular classes in classics, modern theory texts and essay writing. I have relevant experience tutoring key-stage and GCSE level students in English language and literature through agency work. DBS checked. My lessons are one hour!
