About Rizza Lyn
Hello! I’m Rizza Lyn, a Filipino English teacher currently living and teaching in the USA. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education major in English and a Master’s Degree in English. With over 10 years of teaching experience, I’ve worked with diverse learners, including Korean and Japanese students studying English as a Second Language. My teaching style is student-centered and communicative, focusing on helping learners build confidence in speaking, writing, reading, and listening. Each lesson is personalized and goal-oriented, designed to make learning engaging and practical. I use real-life examples, interactive discussions, and structured activities to ensure steady progress. A typical class includes a short warm-up, a focused skill activity, and constructive feedback. My Teaching Approach
As an English teacher from the Philippines currently living and teaching in the USA, I believe that learning a language should be both engaging and purposeful. My approach combines interactive lessons, real-life communication practice, and personalized guidance to help students gain confidence and fluency in English.
Teaching Method and Techniques
I use a student-centered and communicative approach, focusing on the four key skills—speaking, writing, reading, and listening—through meaningful activities such as dialogues, role-plays, vocabulary games, and writing exercises. I also integrate pronunciation drills and grammar practice in natural, practical contexts.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson begins with a short warm-up or review, followed by a focused activity that targets the student’s learning goals (for example, improving pronunciation, essay writing, or conversational fluency). The session ends with feedback, error correction, and short take-home tasks for practice.
What Sets Me Apart
With over 10 years of teaching experience, including 9 years in a public high school in the Philippines and 1 year teaching Korean and Japanese learners, I bring a mix of cultural understanding, adaptability, and patience. Living in the USA allows me to incorporate authentic, modern English use in my lessons.
