About Calvina
I have 6 years of experience teaching at the high school level as well as one and a half years of experience tutoring undergraduate students in various forms of writing.
I have a BA in English & Allied Language Arts and Secondary Éducation with a minor in creative writing. My MA is in Humanities with a focus on literature and Modernism.
I believe all students are capable of learning and expanding their minds given the right conditions. I feel it is my job, as a tutor, to enable the best environment for students to discover new ideas and concepts.

I am a passionate educator who views teaching more as guidance rather than instruction. I adapt each of my lessons to individual student needs since all people learn differently. A typical lesson involves multiple modes of delivery like visual references and auditory associations. Most lessons are geared towards high school and undergraduate students. I’m a firm believer in a hands on approach and will modify my teaching methods to ensure success for each student.
