About Sophie

I’m a collaborative and creative Design and Technology specialist who enjoys working closely with learners and creating a calm space where ideas can develop. I began my career as a teacher, delivering Design and Technology and Engineering, which gave me a strong foundation in supporting students through practical challenges and technical thinking.
I now work for an awarding body, NCFE, contributing to the development of qualifications and the processes that shape how learners are assessed. This role involves shaping content, reviewing standards and ensuring clarity for centres and learners. Because of the responsibilities attached to this work, I cannot support courses from the organisation I’m employed by, as it would be a conflict of interest.
My professional design background includes several years in interior and visual design, where I worked on real projects and developed a practical understanding of how creative decisions become finished outcomes. I’m confident using AutoCAD, Onshape, SketchUp, Photoshop and Illustrator, and I enjoy helping learners use these tools to express their ideas.
I bring a patient, thoughtful approach to my work and value creating an environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, asking questions and developing their own design identity.

My lessons are collaborative, creative and tailored to each student. I focus on building confidence in both the technical and design-led aspects of Design and Technology, using my expert understanding of qualifications and assessment to guide students towards clear, high-quality work. I support all GCSE and A Level exam boards except NCFE, as my current awarding body role creates a conflict of interest. I bring over five years of industry experience as an interior designer, along with graphic design skills, to help students strengthen their ideas and improve design communication. I also teach CAD using AutoCAD, Onshape, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Whether you need support with theory, CAD, design development or coursework, my lessons combine practical industry insight with strong assessment knowledge to help you progress confidently.
